CONVICTED child killer Wendy Manthe cried uncontrollably during her short trial in the East London High Court today (June 24).

She sobbed as she arrived in court and hugged her father saying, "I'm sorry daddy".

Manthe, 40, pleaded guilty to murdering her daughters Morgan, 9 and Willow, 7, after fetching them from school early and telling them they were going to the beach for a picnic.

On the way she stopped to fulfil a bizarre shopping list of sleeping tablets, picnic food and razor blades, according to her confession, which was read in court by Manthe's legal aid representative Vuyani Magqabi.

She was convicted of two counts of murder by High Court judge Jeremy Pickering and the case was remanded until August 17 for sentencing.
