NEWLY elected mayor Zanoxolo Wayile yesterday granted a “festive season reprieve” to Nelson Mandela Bay account holders who are in arrears.

Municipal spokesman Roland Williams said that the municipality had disconnected electricity meters since September and “inserted water restriction washers which stemmed the flow of water at the homes of account holders who were in arrears”.

“As a gesture of good will, following a recommendation from the budget and treasury directorate, the mayor has agreed to have all such meters reconnected and restriction washers disabled for the period December 16 to January 8.” – Luyolo Mkentane
