Cape Town – ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema’s racial rhetoric is a desperate attempt to hang onto a support base in “terminal decline”, DA leader Helen Zille said yesterday.

“The best nourishment for a democracy is when people use their rights and get rid of the party that has failed them,” Zille said in a speech delivered in Potchefstroom.

“This is what people are starting to realise all over South Africa. They see what the ANC has become. They see Malema’s racial rhetoric for what it is – a desperate attempt to hang onto a support base in terminal decline.”

Zille said the ANC in the Western Cape was so desperate it had dispatched Malema to hand out food parcels, paid for by taxpayers.

"but people are not stupid" ... well, lets hope not! Thats a typical trick used by African dictators to keep themselves in power - ensure that the poor remain desperately poor so that a little 'bone' (i.e. food parcels) can be thrown to them when it comes close to voting time.. Yet, how the ignorant poor dont realise that the Tax-Paying Businessman is actually paying for their food parcels and not the party that is handing them out...

The people of South Africa see right through Malema like a plate glass window. "You can fool some of the people all the time and all the people some of the time but you can't fool all the people all the time".Abraham Lincoln said that and its still true.The people of this country are starting to get wiser to the ruling parties lies.

The greater majority are, unfortunately or otherwise, very stupid. Be careful not to measure Malema by western white standards. He has a powerful support base among the poor and desperate and that support will grow with the government's continued lacklustre performance. Rhetoric like nationalisation of mines and other assets is very convincing when you have no job, food or shelter.
