A SOUTH African women’s magazine will embark on a nationwide search for the ultimate apprentice as part of a brand-new reality TV show, Style Apprentice, which will be broadcast on the M-Net Series channel on DStv next year.
This concept is loosely based on the successful Style Network reality TV series in the US, Running in Heels.
Fairlady magazine is looking for energetic, creative and talented individuals aged between 18 and 30. Entrants need to be driven and ambitious, with a strong desire to make it big in the world of fashion and beauty.
Out of the applications received, 20 will be short-listed for a one-on-one interview with a judging panel that will be headed by the magazine’s editor, Suzy Brokensha.
She will hand-pick her top six interns, who will then battle it out for, among other prizes, the title of Style Apprentice, a paid internship at the magazine and a foot in the door of the glamorous world of magazines.
The pace and drama will be caught on camera, reality TV-style, and broadcast on the M-Net Series channel from March 26 next year. The six finalists will be put up in a stylish Cape Town penthouse for the duration of the production.
“We’re very excited about being able to give such a fabulous opportunity to the hundreds of talented young South Africans we know are out there,” said Brokensha.
“We thought this was a really great way to combine print and TV to showcase our local talent and offer the winner a great career opportunity at the same time.”
The entry period is five weeks, with applications having already opened on November 9 and closing on December 14.
Entries must be submitted on their website at www.fairlady.com.
Besides the six-month paid internship at the magazine, the winning candidate will also receive a laptop, cellphone and all the right accessories.
