THE Gary Player Invitational, which takes place at The Links golf course at Fancourt in George next week, is to showcase a number of distinguished golf professionals, celebrities and businessmen as it celebrates its 10th anniversary.

US Masters champion Angel Cabrera and double US Open champion Retief Goosen will join the impressive field taking part in South Africa’s premier charity golf tournament.

Other professionals include Champions Tour campaigners Mark McNulty, John Cook and Bobby Jones as well as European Senior Tour stalwarts Bill Longmuir, Bertus Smit and John Bland, winner of the Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open in last month, plus Player himself.

Among the confirmed businessmen taking part in the event are Dr Hans-Walter Peters and Hendrik Riehmer of Berenberg Bank, the oldest private bank in the world; Stokes Land Group president Hugh Connerty, and Abdullah Saeed, chairman of the Al-Naboodah Group.

World Cup-winning rugby coach Sir Clive Woodward, BBC sports presenter Sarah Stirk and Just Jinjer vocalist and guitarist Ard Matthews are also bound to attract many spectators to the course.
