Man in court for assault case By Hendrick MphandeAN eye specialist from Greenacres Hospital, Ivor William Gardiner, who was arrested in connection with an alleged assault involving a woman, appeared in the Port Elizabeth magistrate’s court yesterday. Mr Gardiner, 67, whose address was given as The Beaches, Humewood, was arrested on Saturday and he was released on R500 bail. Dressed in black, Mr Gardiner was not asked to plead and no evidence was led. The court ordered him not to make contact with the alleged victim, who had sought an interim protection order immediately after the alleged assault. The case was postponed to October 14 to allow for further investigation.
