Doors closed at Rand Stadium Johannesburg – The Premier Soccer League announced yesterday that the Rand Sports Stadium would be closed indefinitely because it is seen as unsafe. The PSL’s director in charge of stadium safety, Roinnie Schloss, decided to close the stadium after inspecting it on Tuesday. His reasons for the closure were the poor condition of the pitch and poor maintenance and upkeep which have resulted in the stadium being unsafe. Jomo Cosmos and Moroka Swallows will now use alternative venues. Jomo Cosmos have opted to play their Coca-Cola Cup Last 16 Round fixture against Santos at the Royal Bafokeng Stadium in Rustenburg on Saturday, 6 November, kicking-off at 3.15pm. The sponsors are re-negotiating the bus pick-up points for free local transport to the stadiums and will inform the public of the changes as soon as possible. – Sapa
