I FIND it absurd that in this day and age the Nelson Mandela Metro can even contemplate relocating a community that has been established for over 40 years (“Njoli’s families unhappy over relocation plan”, The Herald, February 14). The flimsy excuse by councillor Thando Ngcolomb that residents should look at it from a business point of view is a misnomer....more
I THOUGHT that my case was an isolated one, until I read of other readers who have also had parcels from the UK go astray. My son sent me a present for Mother’s Day in May, a parcel for my grandson’s birthday in July and another birthday present in September 2004. They have all gone astray....more

MANY of your readers are, I am sure, aware of the shop, Books Etc, in the Walmer Town Hall annex and run by volunteers to raise funds for the Children’s Feeding Trust. Books are donated to the fund and sometimes include editions which might be of value to collectors and others interested in the many weird and wonderful subjects found in these volumes....more

AS the father of Martin “Junior” Kruger, who miraculously survived, virtually uninjured, his vehicle plunging off the Mount Road offramp, I feel that the utmost praise is due to the metro services, the fire department, Netcare 911, the police and traffic officers, all of whom were on the scene within minutes....more
