Poet pays back debt to Baartman inspiration
WHEN poet Diana Ferrus wrote I’ve Come To Take You Home after re-hearing the tragic story of fellow Khoi Sarah Baartman 12 years ago, she never dreamt how prophetic her title words would become. Since then, the lyrical 250 words in the poem have travelled the world, been embedded in French law and contributed to the return of Baartman’s remains. |
