Afrosoul singer Berita's latest visual offering, the official music video for Ndikhawulele has finally arrived just in time for Valentine's Day.
Ndikhawulele (Meet Me Halfway) is the opening track to Berita's album Songs in the Key of Love released last year.
Although released on Thursday, almost a year after the album dropped, the timing could not be better as many music lovers are deeply interested in anything to do with love at the moment.
Befitting of the current mood where some are besotted or deeply in love while others seek to rekindle their love this Valentine's Day, Ndikhawulele is a lover's cry seeking answers about where she stands in her romantic relationship.
“I wrote and produced this song one lonely winter night in my home studio. I found myself uncertain and wondering if the person I was in love with really felt the same way.
“When I say ‘Ndikhawulele’ I’m asking my lover to meet me [halfway] by at least telling the truth about how he really feels about me,” Berita said.
The Zimbabwean-born singer said the video was in honour of Songs in the Key of Love's first anniversary.
The year has already kicked off on a high note for Berita who is nominated twice – for Best Rnb/Soul album and Best album of the year – for Songs in the Key of Love at the Zimbabwe Music Awards.
A coveted honor, the Zimbabwe Music Awards this year celebrate 18 years of musical excellence and creativity, providing a high profile, multi-faceted and rich cultural diversity of Zimbabwean music.
She also started the year with the premiere of her seven-part docu-series, Behind the Album, taking fans through the making of Songs in the Key of Love.
The series premiered on February 3 and now has four episodes out. The next three will be released on February 17, 18 and 24 at 6pm on Youtube.
“A year later I hold memories of creating the body of work that restored and reignited my love for myself and especially for my music,” she writes on her Youtube channel, Berita afrosoul.
