Sorry, not sorry, Tiger’s Milk is back — and it opened to the Gqeberha public with a whole lot of glitz and glam last week.

Leaving behind the past and the spats with neighbours, after a 10-month hiatus it was easy to see that it had  indeed been missed as the venue was packed on Thursday night.

Glasses of bubbly at the door after walking the red carpet welcomed excited patrons and influencers to a night of good food, drinks and entertainment.

With branches in Ballito, Umhlanga, Green Point, Somerset West, the V&A Waterfront and more, Tiger’s Milk has quickly settled into its new home at Moffett on Main Lifestyle Centre.

After complaints from neighbours and businesses about the noise, and then an application to renew its liquor licence rejected, the establishment decided in August to close its doors in Main Road.

But the drama appears to have been worth it as the new venue is better than ever.

Even on a cold and stormy night like Thursday, the venue provided a sense of warmth.

The drinks were flowing as excited patrons were entertained by local artist Shaza, whose new single, Happy, is making waves on air.

The waiting staff came around with platters of tasters from Tiger’s Milk’s most popular menu choices, which included an array of pizzas, burger sliders, bao buns, and my favourite, Buffalo wings.

The service was excellent despite how busy it was.

It is not everywhere that you can find a great margarita cocktail, but the bar staff certainly know how to mix one at Tiger’s Milk.

Known for its steaks. burgers and pizzas, the menu has something for everyone.

Looking for something spicy to share as a starter, then the smoky and creamy chipotle chicken livers served with fresh toasted ciabatta, or the beer-battered jalapeños filled with cream cheese and bacon and a ranch dip are among the popular choices.

For the more sensitive pallets, the grilled or fried calamari with house-made salsa and roasted garlic aioli comes highly recommended.

Popular items on the extensive main menu are the sticky pork ribs, cooked for three hours in a secret sticky basting sauce and sprinkled with sesame seeds, as well as the pulled pork tacos made with tangy slaw, jalapeños, hoisin sauce, and sour cream.

For the undecided, there are the Triple Threat Tiger sliders which consist of three slider burgers — Evil Twin (cheese slice, house-made truffle mushroom sauce); Rockstar (cheese slice, bacon, smashed avo); and Smash That Chicken (flame-grilled chicken breast, smashed avo, Danish feta, fresh lettuce, tomato, red onion).

The choice of sides includes hand-cut or sweet potato fries, roasted veg, salads and more.

For the sweet tooth, there is the Bar One cheesecake, decadent carrot cake with walnut ice-cream, sticky toffee pudding, and new addition chocolate popcorn s'mores — a decadent chocolate brownie sandwich filled with vanilla bean ice-cream and garnished with caramel popcorn and burnt marshmallow.

The establishment also caters for the little ones with reasonably priced choices of a pizza, chicken strips and fries, or a ciabatta cheese toastie, though it will be difficult to steer the kiddos away from the decadent dessert offerings.

Tiger’s Milk also has plenty of seafood and vegetarian dishes to choose from, while platters are available for order for larger groups opting to share.

All-in-all, it is a great venue for a date night, a fun night out with friends, or for a family meal.
