Residents get stuck in to stop flooding

A GROUP of about 80 tenacious Jeffreys Bay pensioners rolled up their sleeves and dug in last week to breach the mouth of the Seekoei River estuary, effectively freeing the Kouga suburb from frequent isolation caused by flooding. Paradise Beach has for years been periodically cut off from the adjacent Aston Bay and greater Jeffreys Bay area when flooding makes the 460m-long causeway across the Seekoei River impassable.
