IT is said that three is a charm but in the case of Dale College siblings Sinesipho, Siphosethu and Siphosoxolo Dlongodlongo, the surprisingly small rugby players are more of a triple threat.

The triplets – with Sinesipho at scrumhalf, Siphosethu at flyhalf and Siphosoxolo on wing – helped their team to victory yesterday when they took on Goudveld Hoërskool at the 2016 Standard Bank Grey Rugby Festival in Port Elizabeth.

Their team cruised to a 64-7 win, with Siphosethu scoring two tries and Siphosoxolo one.

Originally from Alice in the Eastern Cape, the 18-year-olds caused quite a stir when they became Dale’s first triplets ever to play together in the rugby-loving school’s first team.

They moved from Davidson Preparatory School in 2013 to pursue their dreams at Dale College.

Moving to a school with a strong sports ethos was important to the boys as well as to their father, Lieberman Dotha, 51, as the three boys are also talented cricketers.

“It is such an honour to play alongside my brothers – just knowing that they are on the field with me makes me want to play better,” Sinesipho said.

“We always try to play at our best levels, for the betterment of the team . . . there was never a problem with us trying to outshine each other.”
