Bitou council speaker Euan Wildeman  is at home nursing shoulder, back and head injuries after being involved in an accident on the N2 at Plettenberg Bay on Tuesday morning.

Southern Cape police spokesperson Captain Malcolm Pojie said a white Ford Ranger bakkie driven by Wildeman, 53, was on the N2  when a white Isuzu bakkie hit it from behind.

Wildeman sustained slight injuries and the driver of the Isuzu bakkie was not hurt.

Pojie said a third vehicle, a black Bantam bakkie, was also travelling on the N2.

It lost control on approaching the crash scene and collided with one of the bakkies.

Aside from Wildeman’s minor injuries, no-one else was hurt.

Despite some body aches and a cast on his wrist, Wildeman said on Wednesday that he remained in good spirits and would return to work next week.

“The driver in the white bakkie [crashed] into me as I was waiting to turn off.

“That then pushed me into the oncoming traffic to meet the black bakkie,” he said.
