A Gqeberha businessman was abducted on Friday morning outside his fish and chips shop in Sidwell.
Police spokesperson Colonel Priscilla Naidu said Neal Ah-Tow, 59, was abducted by five men at 7:15am as he was about to open the store in Crichton Street, Sidwell.
"The armed suspects, driving a silver Chevrolet Cruz vehicle, forced the victim into their vehicle and drove off," Naidu said.
"A case of kidnapping was opened at Algoa Park police station."
The Hawks are now investigating the kidnapping.
It is understood that no ransom has been demanded yet.
