Two Gqeberha police officers facing a charge of murder are expected back in the city’s magistrate’s court in August.
An internal disciplinary process against the two is expected to have been finalised before their next court appearance.
Sergeant Fezeka Puwe, 45, and Constable Ayanda Nodolo, 30, appeared briefly in court on Monday, with their case postponed for a regional court date to be set.
The two stationed at the Walmer police station, were arrested after an incident on April 29, when they pursued and allegedly opened fire on a VW Polo whose driver reportedly refused to stop at a roadblock.
When the vehicle eventually came to a standstill, the 28-year-old motorist was found dead behind the wheel.
The matter was investigated by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.
Puwe and Nodolo were later released on bail of R1,000 each.
They are due back in court on August 19.
