The Kwazakhele Clinic has been temporarily closed due to safety concerns.
Residents warned healthcare workers on Tuesday about criminals possibly targeting the facility.
Health MEC Ntandokazi Capa’s spokesperson, Mkhululi Ndamase, said patients would receive care at nearby facilities.
“The department condemns healthcare facilities and workers being targeted.
“We would also like to thank the community for alerting healthcare workers of the possible crime.
“This has saved the workers from potential harm and trauma,” Ndamase said in a statement.
He said the department would assess the situation with police before the clinic was reopened.
