Alleged wife killer Arnold Terblanche claimed a small victory on Thursday when the court granted an application for his legal team to gain more insight into a portion of the state’s case against him.

While Terblanche submitted a list of questions on several of the charges against him, the Gqeberha high court ruled that the state should provide more information on one specific charge regarding the actual murder of his estranged wife, Vicki.

Terblanche and his co-accused, Reinhardt Leach, returned to the Gqeberha high court on Thursday where the ruling was made in favour of Terblanche.

Despite state advocate Marius Stander saying at previous court dates that the prosecution had provided the defence with all it is obligated to, the court ordered that he provide the additional information to the defence within 10 days.

Peter Daubermann, instructed by attorney Alwyn Griebenow, had previously indicated that the additional information was needed for them to better prepare Terblanche’s defence for trial, which is scheduled to commence on January 27.

Terblanche is the alleged mastermind behind Vicki’s murder in October 2021.

He was released on R1m bail in February 2023, while Leach remains in custody after his failed bail application in July 2024.

Meanwhile, Leach’s friend and co-accused, Dylan Cullis, is serving an 18-year prison term after confessing to his role in the murder.

It is alleged Leach drugged and suffocated Vicki in her Mill Park home at the behest of Terblanche.

Her body was then buried in a shallow grave in Greenbushes before Leach reported her missing to the police.

Vicki and Terblanche had been going through an acrimonious divorce and custody battle over their minor son, which the state alleges to have been the motive for the murder.
