The body of the women who went missing at Marina Martinique's Marina Beach on Friday has been found by divers.

Jeffreys Bay security firm Exec Ops said on Saturday the divers had called nearby fishermen to help them get the body to the beach.

Exec Ops response manager JJ van Jaarsveld said Marina Martinique's security noticed lights on the beach and immediately investigated.

"Exec Ops Protection Services responded swiftly, assisting SAPS and pathology services in retrieving the body from the beach.

"We extend our deepest condolences to the family and thank all roleplayers for their efforts and dedication during this difficult time."

Van Jaarsveld said on Saturday the woman and her husband had apparently entered the water about lunchtime on Friday.

"According to the husband, who I spoke to after the incident, they were using hydrotherapy to treat his wife, who could only walk with crutches.

"They had weight belts tied on them and a rope tying them together."

He said the couple went chest deep into the water but then at a certain point she lost her footing.

"He managed to get loose from the weights but he couldn't save his wife."

Van Jaarsveld said National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) members and Kouga lifesavers had combed the waters in the area and police search and rescue, executive ops SORT Unit and Response, Relay EMS, Garmed EMS, Kouga ICC, SAPS K9, JBay SAPS, SAPS detectives, Aston Neighbourhood Watch and Marina security had all been involved in the search on Saturday.

A drone was also deployed but water visibility was poor, which made the search difficult.

"The investigation into this tragic incident will continue, and SAPS urges anyone with information to contact Captain Marius Viljoen on 082-441-7645," he said.
