Misomihle Nkwalase, who was hit by Gqeberha businessman Theo Gora’s vehicle on October 11, has died.
The Nkwalase family’s spokesperson, Xolisa Jafta, said he died on Wednesday night.
Nkwalase was rushed to Livingstone Hospital after he was found near an informal settlement in Veeplaas.
Gora, the suspended head of operations at Kasi Delivery, was arrested last week.
He faces charges of attempted murder and kidnapping after he allegedly struck the 18-year-old Nkwalase with a vehicle and then dumped him in the bushes in an alleged act of vigilantism.
Gora briefly appeared before the New Brighton magistrate’s court on Monday, with the matter postponed to October 28 for a formal bail application.
He remains in custody.
Nkwalase was a Grade 12 pupil at Ndzondelelo High School and was recently awarded certificates of excellence in athletics and soccer.
