A new DA PR councillor has been selected by the party to serve in the Nelson Mandela Bay council.
Francois Titus will replace Nicholas Nyathi, who resigned in May.
DA provincial chair Yusuf Cassim said Titus’s name would be forwarded to the IEC.
“The swearing in will be done imminently.”
Cassim said Titus had been born and raised in the northern areas and had been a community activist in Ward 34 for more than a decade.
He said Titus had focused on providing skills training and development opportunities for young people in the northern areas.
Titus joined the DA at the encouragement of late councillor Johnny Arends.
He served as deputy branch chair for Ward 34 in 2017.
He was elected as branch chair in 2018.
“Francois is committed to the DA’s mission to fix what we can from our own pockets until we take over government and get Nelson Mandela Bay working again,” Cassim said.
“We have every confidence in his ability to serve as a councillor and we look forward to him working closely with the DA caucus to deliver on our mandate of clean, accountable governance and good quality services for all residents.”
