Eastern Province handed the Border Bulldogs a sobering 69-26 defeat in their Carling Currie Cup First Division rugby clash at Mthatha Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The Elephants raced to a 24-5 lead against their provincial rivals at the break as they applied relentless pressure and forced the hosts to commit a comedy of errors committed by their notorious slow-starter opponents.
The game erupted into a try-fest towards the end as Bulldogs fought tooth-and-nail when they chased the game but opened gaping holes for the visitors to exploit.
“I think the fans enjoyed the game as it was a festival of tries but we are happy to walk away with a win,” said Elephants coach Dumisani Mhani after the game.
Border Rugby's dismal run continued when their Ladies were put to the sword, humbled 25-3 by Boland Dames in a Premier Division clash.
The hosts appeared to be holding their own in the first half when they trailed 3-0.
But the floodgates opened in the second half as they capitulated.
