A new book on the history of Eastern Province rugby by Gérann Gerber will enable fans to take a nostalgic walk down memory lane.
This is Gerber’s second book on EP rugby and is packed with stories relating to the era from 1888 to 1963.
“The book includes commentary and interviews with legendary international players, like David Campese, Philipe Sella, and also Springboks like Frik du Preez, Dawie de Villiers, among others,” Gerber said.
“It also includes interviews with EP’s Springboks, EP management and additional information that has been added up to 1994, which wasn’t printed in my previous volume.
“My previous volume, entitled Eastern Province Rugby Legends covered the years 1964-1994, and I thought why not complete the history from when Eastern Province started, up to 1963?
“My dad, Gerrie Gerber and his brothers, André and Orlando, all played for Eastern Province in the ’70s.
“Growing up I was also inspired by other role models like Danie Gerber, Johnny Vermeulen, Andrew Johnson, Adri Geldenhuys and many more.
“Meeting them all in person, made the experience so much more special.
“My second book was called 30th Anniversary P.E. Harlequins R.F.C. 1992 — 2022, and now my new release is titled Eastern Province Rugby History.
“Included in the book are never-before-seen team photographs, action photographs, and the building plans of the original Boet Erasmus Stadium.
“The book is not available in commercial bookstores and can be purchased from myself.”
The price is R550 per copy and can be ordered from Gerber at email: gerann@live.co.za; Cell/WhatsApp: 073-1198-637.
