Xolani Sithole, Thobani Jacobs, Sifiso Mazibuko and Blessing Jali are the four new players unveiled by Chippa United on Tuesday, ahead of the new DStv Premiership season.

Coach Thabo September and Kwanele Kopo have been working around the clock in search of players who will implement their philosophy.

The four new players join veteran midfielder Andile Jali (signed last week), former TS Galaxy midfielder Aphelele Teto on loan from Scottish side Livingston, and winger Giovanni Philander.

Teto and Philander were revealed as new signings by the club on Monday.

Chippa United executive director Lukhanyo Mzinzi also confirmed that the club would be making some significant player announcements this week.

Not wanting to give too much away, Mzinzi hinted that two signings were coming from Orlando Pirates and one was a former Mamelodi Sundowns player.

It has been rumoured that the Chilli Boys are targeting former Pirates striker Gabadinho Mhango and Sundowns midfielder Bongani Zungu.

Both would markedly bolster Chippa’s squad if the club does manage to sign them.

“We are building a strong team,” Mzinzi said.

“We want to be unique, consistent, and to excel in particular this month as it marks 10 years since we moved from Cape Town to the Eastern Cape.

“We made the reinforcements to the club because we want a balanced team this upcoming season.

“We have signed special players with special talents and also some experienced players.

“We will announce a couple of other signings to complement what we have acquired and added to what we already have in the team.”

Sithole, 25, last played at Uthongathi in the 2022/2023 season, but has also played for lower league Ladysmith United, and second-tier outfits Free State Stars and Casric Stars.

Attacking midfielder Jacobs, 21, was last at Pretoria Callies but left them at the end of the 2022/2023 season and did not play professional football in the last campaign.

Former Maritzburg United centre-back Blessing Jali, 24, made only eight appearances for The People of Choice last season in the 2023/2024 campaign and has 25 professional appearances over three seasons in his career.

Winger Mazibuko, 20, last played professional football for Jomo Cosmos.
