Highbury will be looking to continue their fine winning streak in the Motsepe Foundation Championship when they play Leruma United at the Lucas Moripe Stadium on Sunday (3.30pm).

Before the Fifa break, the Gqeberha side enjoyed three consecutive victories in the league after going winless in their first seven matches.

Highbury booked their first three points against JDR Stars by beating them 1-0.

They then won 1-0 against Hungry Lion and their most recent success was a 3-0 win against Pretoria Callies.

Coach Kabelo Sibiya will be without several of his key players when they play Leruma on Sunday due to injury, but he is confident his side will return with a victory.

“We gave some of the guys off this week and we started with preparations for the match by playing two friendly games,” he said.

“We played Madibaz, the USSA team, who are preparing for the USSA games.

“We played them on Tuesday and we won the match and on Wednesday we played against Chippa United and we lost.

“We still have a couple of injuries. Mohau Mokate is still out and we have about eight players who are in rehab with a couple of knocks.

“Some players should be back by next week, so a couple of guys will miss the game this weekend.

“For the available players, it’s an opportunity for them to play.

“We are on the right track and we believe we are preparing well for this game. However, we are anticipating a difficult match.

“Leruma are sitting 15th on the log. At some point we were in the same position.

“We know the pressure that is there and we know the determination you have when you are there.

“So we anticipate a very difficult match especially since they are playing at home.

“So, it’s a game we will treat with a lot of respect, just like other games. We can come back home with maximum points.

“But we need to do everything possible to stick to the game plan and fight as a team as we did in the previous game against Callies.

“We had a fantastic team spirit in that match. A lot of hard work was put into that match and there was a very positive approach.”

The Yellow Nation are ninth on the log with 12 points from 10 matches.
