Highbury will be out to get maximum points against Baroka when they meet at the Gelvandale Stadium on Friday (1pm), coach Kabelo Sibiya says.
In their previous league match, the Gqeberha-based side’s Motsepe Foundation Championship game against Leruma ended in a goalless draw at the Lucas Moripe Stadium in Atteridgeville.
In-form Highbury were looking to continue their winning ways in the league after collecting nine points from their three previous fixtures.
Despite not winning, the Yellow Nation remain unbeaten in their last five matches and the draw also saw them keep a clean sheet in four consecutive matches.
They will be looking to continue that positive run when they take on 12th-placed Bakgakga.
Though he will be without his best soldiers on the field against Baroka due to injury, Sibiya is positive those picked for Friday’s encounter will be up to the task.
Highbury are 11th on the log with 13 points from 11 matches.
“We have been preparing well I believe,” Sibiya said.
“The mood is very high in the team, the guys are showing a lot of commitment and there is a lot of belief in the team even though we are faced with injuries.
“Some of our regular players could not train with the team this week because of injuries and we are helping them with the medical team to fast-track their availability.
“However, this is also an opportunity for other players to show what they can do for the club.
“We will go out there tomorrow and do our best to fight for maximum points in the match.
“We are aware that we are playing at home and we are aware that if we win that match we will be in a better position on the log.
“We will be in the top eight if we win, so it’s a match that we really have to win to give ourselves a good chance in terms of moving up the log.
“But more than that it’s about us performing well and playing the way we have been preparing and sticking to the plan and giving it our all.”
