Despite concern over injured Namibian international goalkeeper Kamaijanda Ndisiro, Highbury head coach Kabelo Sibiya said his squad is determined ahead of their Motsepe Foundation Championship match against Venda FC at Gelvandale Stadium on Friday (3pm).
The Gqeberha side lost 2-1 to Black Leopards at Thohoyandou Stadium last Wednesday before slipping to a 3-1 defeat to Baroka at the Global Stadium in Lebowakgomo on Saturday.
As a result of the setbacks, the Yellow Nation have dropped from eighth place to 10th on the log with 34 points from 27 matches.
Highbury have three more fixtures before the season ends. Two of those are home matches.
They host Venda and Kruger United at home before travelling to Upington City for the season finale.
Sibiya said his team must take advantage of the two home games and bounce back strongly.
The coach said his players are motivated and are ready to fight to keep the three points at home on Friday.
“I've seen that the players are eager to take advantage of the two home games,” Sibiya said.
“We have been a force at home of late, we have some good results at home. As you can see, the league is getting tougher and tougher in terms of winning matches away, not only for us, but for everyone.
“However, we are ready for Friday's match, we have been preparing well. We have tried to help the players accept the results away from home.
“We believe that we will be ready for the match against Venda and against Kruger, but our focus now is the match against Venda.
“We have some knocks, yes, but we believe that the guys will be ready for the match on Friday because it's not necessarily injuries.
“However, our goalkeeper Kamaijanda Ndisiro had a serious knock against Black Leopards, and he missed the game against Baroka, so we will see if he'll make it on time for the match against Venda.”
