Chippa United head coach Luc Eymael has asked for consistency from his players ahead of their crucial Betway Premiership fixture against Stellenbosch.
The match will take place at the Buffalo Stadium in East London on Sunday (5.30pm).
The Gqeberha-based side have not been consistent in the league.
In their last three matches, they won 2-1 against Orbit College and lost with the same score margin to Polokwane City before their 1-1 draw with Sekhukhune United on Wednesday.
After their recent result, the Chilli Boys have moved up one place on the log and are now sitting in 15th position with five points from eight matches.
They are level with Stellenbosch on points. However, Stellies are above them due to a better goal difference.
Reflecting on their draw against log leaders Sekhukhune, Eymael said, “You know that I am an offensive coach, because we lost the three points in our last game against Polokwane City.
“I decided to play carefully, a bit more defensively, not high block but midblock.
“We wanted to break on the counter, and that is what we did, and we succeeded in doing it.
“I know we had to suffer today, we had to run, and we knew that because Sekhukhune is a very good team that beat Pirates and Chiefs.
“However, I am very proud of the boys who prove to everybody that they are not small players. The players were disappointed after the loss of the last games.”
Having said that, the Belgian coach said he was a bit disappointed, though, with Wednesday's result as he felt his team could have taken all three points.
“But I am very proud because we succeeded in blocking them, and that is what I wanted, and like I said, I wanted to play a counterattack, but you know that is not my playing style.
“We succeeded in doing that, and by the grace of God, they did not score the second penalty.
“Now we will travel back and rest a bit before we travel again to East London for our next game against Stellenbosch, which is a game that is also very important.
“I am also happy because this is the first point that Chippa takes away.
“We have to be more regular — we win one game, draw one game, and losing one game is not good.
“But what is good in the PSL if you succeed in winning two or three games in a row, then you are directly in the top nine,” the coach said.
