Highbury FC head coach Kabelo “KB” Sibiya applauded his players for their fighting three-point victory over Black Leopards in their Motsepe Foundation Championship clash at the Thohoyandou Stadium in Limpopo on Saturday.
Menzi Ndwandwe's second-half goal saw Highbury edge Leopards 1-0 to claim their third win of the season.
Saturday's victory solidified the Gqeberha side's unbeaten run in the league championship this season.
The Yellow Nation are third on the log with 12 points from six games.
“We prepared well for the match,” Sibiya said.
“We had to look at how the opponents play. I was very happy. The guys played so well, they fought for the brand, they fought for the team.
“It made me very happy to see them fight after a draw at home last week, which I believe we could have won. I believe we deserved to win that match, but on Saturday we won an away match against Black Leopards.
“They are one of the oldest clubs in SA, not only in this league. So this is a very good three points for us and I am very proud to see our players so happy.
“They have put a lot of work into their training. Honestly, we are ecstatic and grateful for what we have achieved in this game.”
The coach said they will use the two-week Fifa break to recharge for their next away fixture against Leicesterford City on October 18.
“Now we have to take a break because of the Fifa break, go and relax and come back fresh to prepare for our next match against Leicesterford, which is not going to be an easy game.
“We are playing away again. We will continue to work. We need to improve and we are getting better as a team.
“Game by game, we are getting better, but today's performance is the best I have seen from the team this season,” Sibiya said.
